Jakarta, 15 May 2025 – Jakarta, 15 May 2025 – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) has reaffirmed its commitment to protect customers through the #JanganKasihCelah educational campaign, which emphasizes avoiding fraud loopholes and highlights the importance of protecting personal data in the digital world.
In the #JanganKasihCelah campaign, Danamon educates customers on properly managing a secure Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) and passwords for banking transactions using the D-Bank PRO application, as well as Danamon Debit, Credit, and Charge cards. This initiative reflects Danamon’s commitment as a financial solution provider and customer-centric organization to protect customers from financial losses caused by digital fraud.
In recent years, the number of debit and credit cards in Indonesia has grown significantly. According to Bank Indonesia, as of December 2024, there were 325 million debit cards spread across Indonesia, marking a 13.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, the number of credit cards rose by 4.6%, from 17.73 million in December 2023 to 18.55 million in December 2024.
However, the rising use of debit and credit cards has been accompanied by an increase in various types of financial crimes. According to the Directorate General of State Assets, Ministry of Finance, carding and skimming are two of the three most prevalent digital crimes that customers need to be vigilant about. Proper management of PINs and passwords plays a crucial role in helping customers prevent these types of fraud.
“Danamon remains dedicated to educating customers through the #JanganKasihCelah campaign, encouraging greater caution during transactions and raising awareness about the prevalent fraud schemes. Danamon continues to actively appeal to and educate customers on how to avoid all forms of hacking and fraud. One effective measure is to create strong PINs and passwords,” said Andreas Kurniawan as Chief Digital Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.
As part of the #JanganKasihCelah education campaign, Danamon offers clear guidelines to help customers create a secure PIN. Customers are encouraged to use a combination of six non-repeating digits, such as 112233, and to avoid easily guessable sequences like 111111 or 123456. It is also important not to use numbers linked to personal information such as birth dates that can be easily discovered by others.
To create a strong password, Danamon recommends using 8–12 characters that combine letters, numbers, and symbols. Customers should avoid including personal information such as names or birth dates as these details are often accessible on social media and can be exploited by irresponsible parties. Additionally, customers are advised not to use easily compromised words or patterns such as “Password01!”, “Qwerty11?”, or “Secret.10”.
Danamon also emphasizes the importance of regularly changing PINs and passwords, avoiding storing them in easily accessible places, and being cautious about oversharing on social media especially when making card payments. During transactions, customers are advised to shield the keypad on EDC or ATM machines when entering their PIN and to ensure their card remains in their possession at all times, never handed over to others.
"Danamon remains committed to safeguarding customer data through consumer protection initiatives in line with regulatory requirements. For example, we provide comprehensive training for frontliners to ensure quality service and to educate customers on how to protect their personal information. Customer security is further strengthened through two-factor authentication features, such as OTP and biometrics for digital transactions, as well as multiple channels for changing PINs and passwords—whether through branch offices, the Hello Danamon call center, or the D-Bank PRO application," Andreas explained.
Danamon also enhances security by offering a temporary block feature for Danamon Debit, Credit, and Charge Cards via the D-Bank PRO application, as well as a permanent block option through the Hello Danamon call center. If customers need a replacement for a blocked card, they can request a new Danamon Debit Card through the D-Bank PRO application, and through Hello Danamon for Credit and Charge Cards.
Danamon reminds customers that all communications are only conducted through verified channels. To ensure the security of transactions and communications, customers are encouraged to contact Danamon through its official platforms, such as the Hello Danamon Call Center at 1-500-090 (for domestic calls) and +6221-23546100 (for international calls), which are available to address customer inquiries and complaints.
