Danamon's Commitment to Supporting Sustainable Education through Financial Literacy, Library Rejuvenation, and Environmental Initiatives at Universitas Brawijaya

Malang, 14 June 2024 – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon), as part of the MUFG Financial Group, once again demonstrates its strong commitment to supporting sustainable business development through a series of impactful educational initiatives through Danamon Peduli program, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). In the first semester of 2024, Danamon's East Java Regional Office collaborated with Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to launch a series of activities to advance sustainable education, enhance financial literacy, rejuvenate the campus environment, and modernize library facilities. These initiatives are spread across the main UB campus in Malang and the UB Program of Study Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) in Kediri.

The first activity occurred at the PSDKU UB Kediri campus with a tree-planting ceremony that also marked the inauguration of the new PSDKU Kediri building. Danamon donated 100 ketapang and tabebuya trees and several segregated trash bins to renew the campus environment. This event was attended by the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., Ph.D. Med.Sc, and the Area Manager of Danamon Kediri, Lorentia Handoko.

Next, a financial literacy workshop was held for 125 UB students at the UB Malang campus. The workshop was enriched with presentations from the Danamon East Java team about investment security and enlivened by the presence of Adrian Maulana, a public figure known for his expertise in financial management and eco-friendly lifestyle.

These activities culminated in the inauguration of the UB central library on June 14, 2024, which has undergone significant updates to offer a more modern and fresh design and facilities. Danamon's contribution to the library renovation aims to create a comfortable and safe learning environment and encourage increased student visits to the Universitas Brawijaya library. The inauguration was attended by the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., Ph.D. Med.Sc.; Vice Rector for Finance and Resources, Prof. Dr. Muchamad Ali Safaat, SH., MH.; University Secretary, Dr. Tri Wahyu Nugroho, S.P., M.Si; UB Library Director, Dr. Iwan Permadi, S.H., M.Hum.; Danamon Branch Network Head, Eka Dinata, and Danamon East Java Regional Corporate Officer, Irene Sri Redjeki.

Irene Sri Redjeki, the Regional Corporate Officer of Danamon East Java, emphasized the importance of education in sustainable development in her statement. “Therefore, the Danamon Peduli Program reflects our commitment to investing in a sustainable future through education. We believe that by providing proper financial literacy, rejuvenating educational facilities, and promoting a sustainable lifestyle, we can help create a future generation that is more aware of social and environmental responsibilities."

Irene also highlighted the importance of collaboration with educational institutions like Universitas Brawijaya. "Collaboration with Universitas Brawijaya allows us to reach more students and provide them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly sustainable global economy. We hope to continue expanding this initiative and make a greater positive impact on society," said Irene.

These initiatives reflect Danamon's holistic approach to CSR, emphasizing the importance of education, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.
