Jakarta, 27 November 2023 – As a bank committed to being a customer-centric organization, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) continues to pro-actively provide financial literacy education to customers and business partners so they can prudently carry out digital banking transactions.
As people's lifestyles changes and technology continues to develop, the use of online banking also continues to get more and more common day by day. Unfortunately, many customers and business partners are still not cognizant of the importance of keeping the confidentiality of their personal identity when carrying out various financial and banking transactions digitally, including maintaining the confidentiality of their Personal Identification Number (PIN).
PIN is a password consisting of 6-digit numbers required by customers as an authorization action to carry out banking transactions, such as Danamon ATMs, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and D-Bank PRO mobile banking.
PIN is divided into two types: mPIN and Telephone PIN. mPin is a password required by customers using mobile banking when authorizing banking transactions, while Telephone PIN is required to access data via telephone communication with Hello Danamon.
Given the important role of PINs in numerous banking transactions, the confidentiality of PINs must only be determined and known by the customer who owns the account, and this is an important aspect in the banking security system for customers.
It is important to note that cutting-edge technology in the banking world also poses various risks, one of which is the leakage of PIN that generally occurs due to customer negligence in carrying out financial transactions. If the PIN is leaked, the customer as the account owner would be in a dangerous position because the perpetrator can carry out various detrimental actions, ranging from theft of personal data and other important information, or even stealing money in the customer’s account. Therefore, keeping the confidentiality of PIN is crucial and should not be taken lightly.
"Danamon continues to remind customers through the anti-fraud campaign #JanganKasihCelah so that customers and business partners can always remain vigilant in keeping the confidentiality of personal identity and other important information, for example by protecting their own PIN, avoiding writing PINs in places that are easy to find or storing PINs on a cellphone without providing security in the form of a password. Danamon also continues to urge customers and business partners to ensure that others cannot see their hand movements when typing their PIN at an ATM or EDC machine. Also, never share your PIN with anyone, even your bank staff," said Andreas Kurniawan, Chief Digital Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.
If customers need to change the PIN, they can change it immediately through various Danamon services, including by:
