Danamon Syariah facilitates the journey of its customer to fulfill the Furoda Hajj pilgrimage during the Hajj season of 1444 AH / 2023 AD

Jakarta, 21 June 2023 – Danamon Syariah ("Danamon Syariah"), as part of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk ("Danamon" and "the Bank"), has bid farewell to the departure of Furoda Hajj candidate, Marlinawati Marjoni Saman, from Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in the year 1444 AH / 2023 AD. Marlinawati departed for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on a Qatar Airways flight at 9:00 AM on 20 June 2023.

Marlinawati is one of the winners of the Reward Point Program for the period of 1 August 2022 - 31 December 2022, organized by Danamon Syariah. This program is a form of support for the seamless and successful execution of Hajj pilgrimage of Indonesian Hajj candidates in 2023. As a winner, Marlinawati has been granted the opportunity to fulfill her Hajj pilgrimage through the Furoda Hajj program.

As a country with the world's largest Muslim population, Indonesia has consistently been among the countries with the highest number of Hajj pilgrims each year. The departure of Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia was temporarily halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, but it resumed in 2022 with limited numbers. In 2023, the Muslim community in Indonesia has reason to be grateful to have received additional Hajj quotas from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the quota for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims scheduled to depart in 2023 has reached a total of 229,000 pilgrims, an increase from the previously set number of 221,000 individuals. The Hajj quota for Indonesia in 2023 is one of the largest in history.

Herry Hykmanto, as the Director of Sharia & Sustainability Finance at Danamon, explained that the Furoda Hajj program is a Hajj pilgrimage program that is regulated under the Law No. 8 of 2019 concerning the Organization of Hajj and Umrah. The Furoda Hajj program differs from the regular Hajj programs because it receives a special quota in the form of official invitations from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which are granted to private organizers of Hajj and Umrah travel in limited numbers. In contrast to regular Hajj, prospective Hajj pilgrims in the Furoda program are not required to wait for years before being able to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage in the holy land.

"We feel incredibly grateful to have been entrusted with the opportunity to send one of our loyal customers to perform the Hajj pilgrimage through the Furoda program. We hope that the execution of the Hajj pilgrimage in 2023, especially for the Indonesian pilgrims, will proceed smoothly and be filled with blessings," said Herry.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the Furoda Hajj pilgrimage for the winner of the Reward Point Program, Danamon Syariah has appointed PT Lintas Iskandaria, one of the organizers of Hajj and Umrah travel that conducts exclusive Hajj and Furoda pilgrimage journeys in 2023. This appointment was made in accordance with the regulations issued by the Indonesian government and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

H. Luqman Hakim Nyak Neh, who serves as the President Director of PT Lintas Iskandaria, explained that not all Hajj and Umrah organizers can obtain the special Furoda Hajj quota from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Hajj and Umrah organizers trusted to facilitate the Furoda Hajj pilgrimage have undergone a lengthy audit process in terms of performance and reputation. They have also received recommendations from the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs and other related agencies.

"We deeply appreciate the support and trust given to us by Danamon Syariah to facilitate the pilgrimage of one of the bank’s loyal customers through the Furoda program," said H. Luqman Hakim Nyak Neh during the departure of Indonesian Furoda Hajj candidates at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Aside from expressing his hopes for the successful implementation of the pilgrimage for the Indonesian Hajj candidates, Herry also shared a message with the aspiring pilgrim groups, emphasizing the importance of maintaining patience throughout their Hajj journey in the holy land. "I pray that all Hajj candidates will always be under the protection of Allah SWT during the Hajj pilgrimage in the holy land. May the aspiring Hajj pilgrims perform their sacred rituals with deep devotion and exhibit unwavering patience in facing the trials that come their way, ultimately becoming pilgrims who are blessed and accepted."
