Danamon Wins Four Awards at the TOP GRC Awards 2022

Jakarta, 26 September 2022 – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) recently won four awards at the prestigious TOP GRC 2022 event, for its commitment and achievements in the areas of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). The four awards are:

• TOP GRC Awards 2022 - #4 Stars.
• The Most Committed GRC Leader 2022 - Yasushi Itagaki, President Director.
• The High Performing Board of Commissioners on GRC 2022; and.
• The High Performing Corporate Secretary on GRC 2022 - Rita Mirasari, Compliance Director.

The TOP GRC Award is an award given to companies that are considered to have complete GRC Systems and Infrastructure and are successful in implementing Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Risk Management, and Compliance Management to support sustainable business growth, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The pandemic brought various challenges for Danamon, but we held on steadfastly to the principles of GCG, Risk Management, and Compliance in running Danamon's business and operations. TOP GRC Awards  is expected to be a learning process and increase commitment to and implementation of GRC in companies in supporting sustainable business growth, as well as contributing to national economic development. This year, the TOP GRC Awards ceremony was held in Jakarta on 6 September 2022, where the award for Danamon was received by Enriko Sutarto as Credit & Enterprise Risk Management Head and Lie Chen as Regulatory Compliance & Assurance Head.

As the Main Entity in the MUFG Group Financial Conglomerate in Indonesia, Danamon prepares and establishes an Integrated Governance Policy, which is the main guideline in implementing governance across all Entities within the MUFG Group Financial Conglomerate in Indonesia. This policy is based on the realization that the implementation of good GCG is no longer just a necessity, but is the main foundation and basic need when carrying out business activities. The implementation of GCG is based on solid integrity, so that GCG principles can be implemented at every level of the organization and implemented in every activity Danamon carries out, in order to ensure that all operational activities can run consistently and continuously. 

The implementation of Danamon's Governance is based on 5 (five) basic principles of Governance, namely Transparency, Accountability, Responsibility, Independence and Fairness and Equality. These basic principles are grouped into a governance system consisting of 3 (three) aspects, namely Governance Structure, the Governance Process and the Governance Outcome. Assessment of activities, processes, policies and strategies is carried out regularly and continuously in order to be able to obtain optimal implementation and effective control.

“This award shows that Danamon has a strong quality of Risk Management and GCG implementation and can compete in the financial industry, both banking and non-banking. Going forward, Danamon continues to be committed to always improving and strengthening the principles of corporate governance, risk management, and a culture of compliance at all stages of the company's operational activities," concluded Rita.

The TOP GRC Awards is a prestigious award event participated by various well-known companies from various industrial sectors such as financial services, oil and gas, construction, transportation and more. This event is held annually by Top Business magazine in collaboration with the Indonesian GRC Association, the Indonesia Risk Management Professional Association (IRMAPA), the Indonesian Compliance Professional Institute (ICoPI), and the Indonesian Governance Professional Association (PaGi), and is supported by several business consulting companies and GRC, as well as academics from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Padjadjaran University, Bandung. The judging process is carried out by practitioners and experts in the GRC field.
