Danamon Celebrates Its 68th Anniversary with the CSR Program Tour D’Banking to Introduce Banking Activities and Sustainable Practices to Students

Jakarta, August 16, 2024 – To celebrate its 68th anniversary, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program called Tour D’Banking. This program aims to introduce banking activities and sustainable practices to students as part of Danamon's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

In Indonesia, sustainability issues are not yet widely recognized or implemented in daily life from an early age. The Environmental Performance Index (EPI), which assesses sustainability issues from various aspects, ranks Indonesia at 162 out of 180 countries surveyed. Meanwhile, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), post-Gen Z Indonesians (born in 2013 and onwards) makeup about 10.88% of the population, indicating their crucial role in the future of Indonesia's economy.

Dr. Rosdiana Setianingrum, a psychologist specializing in child and family issues, emphasized that childhood is a golden period for developing habits and mindsets that will last a lifetime. Early education on finance, environment, and disaster preparedness is essential in shaping their knowledge and views on sustainability issues and fostering positive and responsible habits.

Based on this, the education sector, including students, parents, teachers, and school management, is one of the key communities Danamon targets in developing its social responsibility programs, particularly in literacy. Danamon has launched the Tour D’Banking program, inviting students to visit Danamon branches. This program, which is an elaboration of the previous Mini Banking program, aims to introduce financial, environmental, and disaster literacy and provide education on banking products and activities. The program also aligns with the Financial Services Authority Regulation Number 3 of 2023 on Improving Financial Literacy and Inclusion in the Financial Services Sector for Consumers and the Public.

Tour D’Banking is being held in several phases. The first phase will take place at Danamon's Putri Hijau Medan Branch from August to September 2024, involving around 270 students from three schools: Santo Antonius Elementary School, Edu Prime School, and Al Washliyah Kindergarten and Elementary School. In this activity, Danamon is collaborating with Gramedia, which introduces a financial literacy book series in comic form that is easy for children to understand.

Abdul Hadi, Head of Sustainability Finance at PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, stated, "Tour D’Banking is one of our initiatives to provide early education on sustainability to students. We believe that this education is crucial in shaping a more environmentally conscious generation and responsible in managing their finances."

The CSR programs for Danamon's 68th anniversary reflect Danamon's commitment to supporting green energy and environmental conservation in Indonesia to reduce carbon footprints and give back to the community. Danamon is committed to continuously providing the best for society and the environment, in line with the company's vision to grow together and provide comprehensive financial solutions.
