JAKARTA, 26 October 2023 – Malicious software, commonly known as malware, is software that works by attacking a computer system, damaging the network and servers in the computer system. One example of malicious software is a trojan virus, which is a type of malware that attacks a computer system by disguising itself as an official program or an operational system.
The name "Trojan" comes from the ancient Greek war story. During the war, Greek soldiers infiltrated the city of Troy by hiding inside a large wooden horse called Trojan horse that was disguised as a gift. The virus is usually disguised as information that customers are likely to trust and has links that seem harmless but can trick its victims.
One of the symptoms of a cellphone being infected with the virus is that the cellphone works slowly because the virus uses up a lot of computing resources or the storage space. Afterwards, an unknown app suddenly appears on the device even though the application is never downloaded or is never on the device in the first place. On top of that, the device crashes and freezes more often because the virus has taken over the computer system. Once this happens, the virus can not only access and steal data and assets, but also damage the device.

Therefore, if you receive an SMS or a chat on WhatsApp claiming to be Danamon or claiming to be a representative of Danamon with the message that asks you to click a link to verify your data as a customer, we advise you not to click the link in the message. “If you are still in doubt, we advise you to contact our call center," said Andreas Kurniawan, Chief Digital Officer, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.
