Danamon Donates 67 Livestock Goats to Support Education-Based Entrepreneurship Program at Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School

Semarang, 16 August 2023 - PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) through its Danamon Peduli program, as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), not only actively campaigns for initiatives to reduce carbon emission levels, but also pays special attention to education issues. As part of the Danamon Peduli 2023 program, Danamon Regional Central Java donated 67 livestock goats to support the Education-Based Entrepreneurship Program initiated by Pondok Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang.

The donation ceremony was held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School in Semarang and was attended by Herry Hykmanto, Director of Sharia and Sustainability Finance of Danamon; Samuel Sugeng Rijadi, Regional Corporate Office of Danamon Central Java; Abdul Hadi, Sustainability Finance Head of Danamon, Merci Santi Adriani, Sharia Funding Business Head of Danamon, and Dr. KH Fadlolan Musyaffa, LC, MA, founder and caretaker of Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School in Semarang.

"We believe that financial literacy and entrepreneurship are very important initiatives in the development of education in Indonesia. This program aims to provide entrepreneurship training to students with a comprehensive educational approach. We hope that this program will not only help the students to become successful entrepreneurs, but also increase their independence and make a positive contribution to the local and national economy," said Herry Hykmanto, Director of Syariah & Sustainability Finance of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.

According to Pengabdi Journal published in October 2022, there are at least 16 million unemployed high school graduates in Indonesia. This figure rose to 26.64 million people in 2020. Therefore, life skills education such as entrepreneurship is important to be given to students to hone students' ability to assess opportunities and translate innovative ideas into the real world creatively.

Basically, entrepreneurship education can be implemented in an integrated manner with educational activities in schools. Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School has started the initiatives by developing maggot cultivation, vegetables, pomfret and tilapia fish, and date nurseries. The cultivation of livestock goats is the latest milestone for the expansion of this educational development to be sustainable.

"With Danamon's commitment to achieving social sustainability finance targets, we always ensure that our initiatives are in line with this commitment. The initiatives at Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang are in line with Bank Danamon's vision and mission to support sustainable business development," Herry added.

Entrepreneurship education can provide long-term benefits for high school students, by helping them develop skills relevant to the world of work, developing an entrepreneurial attitude, and preparing them for an uncertain future.

"Through various initiatives and programs, Danamon aspires to continue to grow as a customer-centric organization as "Your Bank of Choice", with a unique value proposition that focuses on sales and service excellence, strong synergies with our partners, government, and communities, and supported by world-class technology to provide the best financial solutions so that customers can take control of their financial needs and goals," Herry concluded.
