PPE distribution supports the #Tetapterkendali Campaign for a Strong Indonesia amid ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic
Jakarta, August 10 2021 – The significant rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases has led to a greater need for health facility services for virus-positive patients while overburdening the current limited capacity of hospitals. As part of a series of events to commemorate its 65th anniversary, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”) through Danamon Peduli collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to establish an Emergency Hospital to assist COVID-19 patients. This Emergency Hospital was inaugurated in three COVID-19 referral hospitals, namely West Jakarta Taman Sari Hospital, East Jakarta Budhi Asih Hospital and Sukanto Police Hospital. The Emergency Hospital features hospital-standard equipment as well as other emergency health facilities, such as patient monitoring machines, portable toilets and air conditioners, infusion fluids, personal protective equipment (PPE), vitamin health packages, wheelchairs and other supporting facilities.
Danamon's Sharia & Sustainability Finance Director, Herry Hykmanto explains, "We want to convey our deepest empathy, especially to patients exposed to Covid-19 and their affected families. Through this joint initiative, all patients who require medical treatment can access health services quickly and effectively. In collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa, we hope that this Emergency Hospital can be useful for many people and further help the Government in handling COVID-19 cases in Indonesia."
Dompet Dhuafa CSR Director Herdiansah also adds, "There are still many people affected by COVID-19 who need health facilities ranging from medicines and vitamins to intensive care units. Danamon's initiative to collaborate with various parties is a laudable effort to help as many people as possible during this pandemic."
As a responsible member of the community, Danamon also assists in handling the COVID-19 pandemic through insurance protection for COVID-19 volunteers from the risk of death and work-related accidents. In collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (“BNPB”) and BP Jamsostek as the manager, this insurance includes treatment and medical expenses, transportation, temporarily unable to work (STMB) benefit, disability and death compensation, rehabilitation costs, and scholarship assistance.

During the pandemic, Danamon has continuously supported the government through its "Positivity Saves Lives" campaign, which consolidates customer and community efforts in providing 11,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to hospitals and health facilities throughout Indonesia. These PPEs for a strong Indonesia were distributed in cooperation with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI).
Through Benih Baik, Danamon also donated more than Rp 1 billion worth of basic needs to partner-drivers involved in online transportation. Danamon, together with MUFG, Adira Finance and other related institutions, also set up vaccination centers which administered more than 12,500 doses of vaccines benefitting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), online transportation drivers, elderly and frontline employees who face customers from the three financial service institutions.
As part of its 65th anniversary celebration, Danamon also committed to the spirit of prosperity through Aksi Danamon Peduli by supporting economic mobility with the Healthy and Resilient Market Action program. Aksi Danamon Peduli also supported the Water & Sanitation Action for the Archipelago program in the form of sanitation facilities and clean water sources that improve public health in underprivileged areas.
Danamon's collaboration with various parties across all levels of society in Indonesia follows its belief in the spirit of unity. Together, we can grow faster and better. These collaboration initiatives received distinction last March from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) which recognized Bank Danamon as a business institution that is actively and consistently involved in disaster management.
