Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017 Announced 10 Finalist from SME and Fintech segments

Jakarta, 24 October 2017. PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) announced the 10 finalists of Danamon Entrepreneur Awards (DEA) 2017 an initiative of Danamon to give appreciation for the achievements of Indonesian entrepreneurs. The finalists of this year’s DEA cover a variety of business sectors in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment and in the Financial Technology (Fintech) segments. The finalists are selected by Juries who represents the government, regulator, media, academia, and businesses.

The total number of applicants for DEA 2017 is 607 or a 14% compared to last year’s iteration in which there were 532 applicants.  Out of the total applicants, 576 are small and medium entrepreneurs and 31 are fintech companies. The selection and judging process for DEA 2017 are conducted by a board of juries composed of T. M. Zakir Machmud Ph.D - Director of Institute for Economic and Social Research, Faculty of Economy University of Indonesia (LPEM FEUI), Ir. Yuana Setiowati Barnas, MM – Deputy for Financing of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Restu Pratiwi – Executive Director of Yayasan Danamon Peduli, Junanto Herdiawan – Interim  Fintech Head of Bank Indonesia, Ardian Taufik Gesuri – Chief Editor of Kontan Daily, Sebastian Togelang – Founding Partner of Kejora Ventures.  

The 10 finalists selected by the board of juries are Nike Lidiyastuti Aritovani from Ambon, Muhammad Bayu Hermawan from Mataram, Gibran Chuzaefah Amsi El Farizy from Bandung, and Halim Wibowo Santoso from Pasuruan for the SME Entrepreneur category. Meanwhile, for the Social Entrepreneur category, the board of juries selected Irma Suryati from Kebumen and Alfi Irfan from Bogor. For the Fintech category, PT Privy Identitas Digital, PT Alphanovation Digital Teknindo, PT Bareksa Portal Investasi, and PT Investree Radhika Jaya are the juries’ choices in the Fintech category.

“The finalists selected by the board of juries have shown high entrepreneurial spirit as solutions to improve the welfares of themselves and their surrounding communities. They also came from various business sectors, from culinary, agriculture, handicraft, to fintech.  Their achievements are contributions to the Indonesian economy and the welfare of its people. Their spirit is in line with Danamon’s vision, which is ‘To care and enable millions to prosper,’” said Atria Rai, Head of Corporate Communications Danamon and the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017.

Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017 was previously known as Danamon Social Entrepreneurs Awards (DSEA) and was held by Danamon since 2006. In line with the company’s strategic priorities that focus on the small and medium enterprises (SME) segment, Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017 targets entrepreneurs from any field who are successful in building a business and contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth.

Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017 will be divided into three categories, which are Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), Entrepreneur, Social Entrepreneur, and Fintech Entrepreneur.

After the selection of the 10 finalists, the board of juries will select the 5 recipients of DEA 2017, who are “The Best Small Entrepreneur” for entrepreneur with an annual revenue of IDR 500 million – IDR 5 billion, “The Best Medium Entrepreneur” for entrepreneur with an annual revenue of IDR 5 billion – IDR 50 billion, “The Best Social Entrepreneur” for Social Entrepreneur, and “The Best Fintech Entrepreneur” as well as “The Most Promising Fintech Entrepreneur” for fintech entrepreneurs.

After the 5 recipients are selected, the public can participate in determining the favorite DEA 2017 recipient through a voting process via website and social media (Facebook – Bank Danamon and twitter @danamon) between 19 November 2017 – 5 Desember 2017. The awarding ceremony of Danamon Entrepreneur Awards 2017 will be held on 6 December 2017 in Jakarta.
