Danamon Celebrates 66 Years of Serving the People of Indonesia

Jakarta, 14 July 2022 – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon” and “Bank”) celebrates its 66th anniversary on July 16, making the occasion an important momentum to appreciate and continue the collaboration between all parties that have made Danamon one of the leading and trusted banks in Indonesia. This anniversary celebration carries the theme “Together in Synergy”, where Danamon makes employees, customers and communities the main focus.

The challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic has not been easy for everyone around the world, including people and communities in Indonesia. For almost two years, the pandemic forced us to adapt to new ways. However, with a strong sense of togetherness, the Indonesian people have been able to overcome all of these challenges. The year 2022 is proving to be a turning point for the national economy as well as the overall quality of life for the better.

The 66th anniversary celebration is a very proud achievement for Danamon. This long journey is proof of Danamon's commitment to providing the best financial and banking services to the people of Indonesia, including during the past pandemic. Danamon always provides the best products and services during the pandemic to its customers and communities in accordance with Danamon's values, namely Collaborating, Integrity, Quick to Serve and Adaptive (Berkolaborasi, Integritas, Sigap Melayani dan Adaptif - BISA).

“As a bank that has been trusted by customers and the wider community, we are proud of what we have achieved over the past 66 years. All elements within Danamon have worked hard and collaborated to always provide the best financial and banking services to our loyal customers, thus making Danamon one of the leading financial institutions in Indonesia so far," said Yasushi Itagaki, President Director of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.

#BersamaBersinergi was chosen as the theme for the 66th anniversary celebration because it perfectly describes Danamon's long journey that would not have been possible without collaboration and synergy from all parties to achieve Danamon's vision, which is to care for and help millions of Indonesians achieve prosperity. Danamon will continue to be committed to providing financial solutions for individuals to corporations and become a loyal partner as “Your Bank of Choice.”

Reliable and strong financial ecosystem

Danamon is part of MUFG, its parent company, which is one of the largest financial institutions in Japan. MUFG's long experience in the global financial sector has helped Danamon in implementing various business strategies more effectively, including various investments in Digital Channels, IT, Branding, and Human Resources.

In 2021, for example, Danamon launched a mobile banking application, namely D-Bank PRO. This application provides an omni-channel experience for customers with various conveniences to carry out so many financial transactions, ranging from purchasing internet data packages, purchasing PLN tokens and paying electricity, paying zakat, online shopping (e-commerce), QRIS to currency exchange. foreign and remittances.

Danamon also continues its strong collaboration with subsidiary PT Adira Dinamika Multi Finance Tbk (Adira Finance). Over the years, the collaboration between the two has strengthened the automotive financing ecosystem in Indonesia through various innovations in automotive financing and marketing products. The synergy between Danamon, Adira Finance, and MUFG's global network forms a strong collaboration to support the long-term growth of the Indonesian economy as well as the recovery of the national economy and the post-pandemic automotive industry. This was demonstrated by one of the ways in which Danamon participated in supporting the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 which took place some time ago in Jakarta, where Danamon together with Adira Finance and supported by MUFG received a positive response from the industry and the national automotive market. Through this event, the group recorded a satisfactory achievement in the form of distributing 2,000 units of motorized vehicle ownership loans (KPM Prima) with a total value of IDR300 billion.

“Danamon has a very unique and strong position in Indonesia with the support and network from MUFG and Adira Finance. With the spirit of #BersamaBersinergi, this 66th anniversary celebration is a momentum to strengthen collaboration to continue to be creative and innovate, to produce the best financial services for customers and the wider Indonesian community," added Yasushi.

With good collaboration and synergy, the challenges of the pandemic have proven not to negatively affect Danamon's good performance in the Indonesian financial industry. Based on the Financial Statements for the First Quarter of Fiscal Year 2022, which was announced last April, Danamon recorded a positive performance in the first quarter of 2022. Danamon's focus on granular funding growth has succeeded in increasing Current Accounts and Savings (CASA) by 12% with a CASA ratio of 60.5%, up from 54.7% recorded in the same period last year. Danamon's asset quality also continues to improve. The ratio of Non-Performing Loan (NPL) coverage reached 209% in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the previous year which was recorded at 177%. In the first quarter of 2022, the gross NPL ratio also improved 50 bps to 2.8% while the percentage of Loan at Risk (LAR), which includes COVID restructured loans under forbearance, was 15.4%, up 60 bps compared to the previous year. These financial indicators contributed to Danamon's profitability as indicated by a stable quarterly trend of Net Interest Margin (NIM) of 7.9% while operating profit grew 49% year-on-year. At the end of the first quarter of 2022, Danamon's Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) reached IDR 860 billion, an increase of 65% compared to the same period the previous year.

Loans in the Enterprise Banking segment, which consists of Corporate and Commercial Banking and Financial Institutions, increased 10% to reach IDR61 trillion compared to the previous year. This growth is supported by Danamon's collaboration with the MUFG network and its focus on blue-chip customers and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). In the same period and in line with the recovery in the automotive financing sector, Adira Finance, a subsidiary of Danamon, experienced a 33% increase in new financing compared to the first quarter of last year.

Danamon's branding is growing stronger

Danamon maintains its branding position in the eyes of customers in Indonesia. Earlier this year, Danamon won the “Top 100 Most Valuable Brands 2021” award from Brand Finance Indonesia and Investor Magazine - Beritasatu Media Holdings. Meanwhile, at the end of last year, Danamon was named The Best Financial Performance Bank 2021 for the Conventional Bank category with assets above Rp100 trillion at the Tempo Financial Award event.

High quality of human resources is one of Danamon's key strategies to continue to provide the best services for its customers. The presence of a new Vice President Director, Hafid Hadeli, who was officially appointed at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders last March, will add strength to the Danamon team to continue to grow and progress.

“Being part of the Danamon family is an honor for me. Danamon has succeeded in building its branding as a trusted financial institution for millions of customers and the people of Indonesia. I believe that with the spirit of #BersamaBersinergi, Danamon will become stronger and grow.
