On its 65th Anniversary, Danamon Presents the Story of “Growing through Collaboration”

Alongside its passion for progress, Danamon strengthens resolve to continue growing through collaboration with all stakeholders and the entire Indonesian society

July 16 2021
– PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk ("Danamon") this day launched a series of activities entitled “Collaboration Festival” to commemorate its 65th anniversary. The event series started with a virtual live talk show hosted by Marissa Anita, entitled “A Conversation with Mr. Yasushi Itagaki, 65 Years of Dedication & Growth Through Collaborations for Indonesia”. Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Danamon has realized the importance of everyone’s active participation in working together to cope with these difficult times. Therefore, this year, Danamon conceptualized the theme “Growing through Collaboration”.

Since its establishment in 1956, Danamon has been offering the latest innovations by launching attractive programs for customers, among which was the Danamon Simpan Pinjam that was part of the process of acquiring Adira Finance in 2004. Then in 2019, Danamon officially became a member of MUFG Bank, Ltd (MUFG) wherein MUFG's investment provided added value for all Danamon customers and franchises. It also supported the Bank’s continuous growth into a leading bank in Indonesia. These areas of collaboration and synergy included financing for the automotive supply chain, retail banking, digital innovation and risk management capabilities.

In 2020, along with the launch of Danamon Optimal which provides financial solutions for customers in the upwardly mobile segment, Danamon received the Asia Trailblazer Award from Retail Banker International (RBI) with the title ‘Highly Recommended for the Best Digital Banking Initiative’ due largely to MUFG’s transfer of knowledge and technology.

Committed to a vision of caring and helping millions of people achieve prosperity, Danamon continues to grow and conduct its mission as Indonesia’s leading financial institution by implementing corporate values that provide the best service for customers and partners. In recognition of its commitment and innovation in services, Danamon earned the Best Digital Bank award bestowed by Asiamoney during the 2020 awarding ceremonies. In that same year, Danamon was designated as a Commercial Bank Based on Business Activities (BUKU) 4 by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on May 27.

Danamon President Director Yasushi Itagaki emphasizes: “The period of 65 years is not a short process for us. We are grateful for all the achievements of Danamon, which is now a member of MUFG, as we continue to support Indonesia's economic growth. Despite the pandemic-induced   challenges of uncertain economic conditions, Danamon was still able to post various achievements. Danamon's success would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of employees, business partners, customers and all stakeholders who have all contributed to make Danamon one of the largest and most trusted banks in Indonesia. I would like to extend my profound gratitude for all your support which further motivates us to continuously provide better service and performance. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic still lingers, we want to invite every level of society to remain optimistic about the future, remain united and engage in collaborations to overcome this crisis.”

During the pandemic, Danamon launched a series of activities to support Indonesians. This includes the "Positivity Saves Lives" campaign, which aimed at spreading the spirit of positivity through videos shared by the general public. For every video shared, Danamon donated a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which was in turn distributed by Indonesia Strong, an NGO supported by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), to beneficiary hospitals and health facilities throughout Indonesia. Through this campaign, Danamon donated more than 11,000 PPEs. Aside from these PPEs, Danamon donated more than IDR 1 billion through Benih Baik to support basic needs of driver-partners belonging to Grab online transportation provider. It also provided insurance for 10,000 COVID-19 volunteers through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in collaboration with BP Jamsostek, and distributed basic necessities plus PPE in a number of areas through its network of regional offices and branches throughout Indonesia.

The year 2021 also marks the second anniversary of the completion of MUFG's strategic investment in Bank Danamon. Together with MUFG, Bank Danamon has been able to get through challenging times to support the government's program to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. From June 23 to July 2, Bank Danamon together with MUFG and Adira Finance held a vaccination drive by distributing 12,500 doses of vaccine benefitting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), transportation sector including online transportation drivers, vulnerable communities, and frontline employees who deal directly with customers in the three financial service institutions. This event was supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Health Service, Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office, DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Service, Mayapada Hospital, and Halodoc which facilitated operations and managed administration of vaccines.

Bank Danamon has consistently maintained employees’ health and safety, as one of its priorities during the pandemic. In that regard, Danamon participated in the 'Vaccination Program for the Financial Services Sector' organized by Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, National Bank Association (Perbanas), Indonesian Bankers Association (IBI), Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Indonesian Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI), Indonesian Stock Exchange Institution and Indonesian Securities Underwriters (KSEI). The COVID-19 vaccine was administered to selected Danamon frontliners and senior citizens ages 60 years and over.

During the pandemic, Danamon also ensured that customers continuously enjoyed convenient banking services with anytime, anywhere financial transactions. To meet convenient transaction needs, customers can choose from various electronic and digital banking services, such as D-Bank, Danamon Online Banking, SMS Banking and ATM.

Danamon is committed to support the government's efforts in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Together with its strategic partners, Danamon initiated the establishment of an Emergency Hospital to help ease the current burden of health facilities.

With the spirit of ‘Growing Through Collaboration’, Danamon this day also launched the 'Kola6ora5i Festival', a virtual event that carries the spirit of collaboration for everyone to grow together, stay productive and stay positive #dirumahaja.
