MUFG Indonesia and Danamon Donate for Disaster Survivors in Sumatra through LAZISMU

Jakarta, 31 December 2025  – MUFG Bank, Ltd., Jakarta Branch (“MUFG Indonesia”) and PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”, IDX: BDMN) have provided donations to support survivors of the recent disasters in Sumatra. LAZISMU, a national zakat institution dedicated to community empowerment through the productive distribution of zakat, infaq, waqf, and other charitable funds from individuals, institutions, companies, and various agencies, served as the distribution partner for these donations. Reflecting their concern for the affected communities, this collaboration between MUFG Indonesia and Danamon underscores both institutions’ commitment to supporting disaster recovery efforts in Sumatra.

Dadi Arif Darmawan, Managing Director, Head of HR & Banking Operations for MUFG Indonesia, said, “This donation is a testament to the compassion and solidarity of our employees at MUFG Indonesia in supporting the communities in Sumatra. In collaboration with Danamon and LAZISMU, we hope this contribution provides immediate relief and supports a long-term recovery efforts. Together, we remain committed to fostering hope as these communities rebuild.”

Herry Hykmanto, Director of Sharia & Sustainability Finance at Danamon, added, “As part of our commitment to creating a positive impact on society, MUFG Indonesia and Danamon are distributing aid to individuals and families affected by the disaster in Sumatra through LAZISMU. We hope this assistance can help meet their basic needs and support the recovery process. Through this collaboration, Danamon strives to demonstrate its concern for the community, especially for disaster survivors.”

The donations from MUFG and Danamon comprised 100 packages of basic necessities and ready-to-eat meals contributed by MUFG employees, as well as 1,200 packages funded through Danamon’s social responsibility (CSR) program. This donations are tailored to the survivors’ limited ability to process food, so it were designed to be practical and are expected to help ease their burden.

Donations were distributed on 23 December 2025, across four locations: the Agam area in West Sumatra, Langkat Regency and Central Tapanuli Regency in North Sumatra, and Bireuen in Aceh. The donation was presented symbolically by representatives of Danamon and LAZISMU in each region.

This initiative is not only about distributing aid, but also reflects the commitment of both institutions to be present and show their concern for the community. As members of the community, MUFG Indonesia and Danamon remain committed to caring for and supporting Sumatran residents affected by the disaster as a form of social involvement. Through this initiative, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to creating a positive impact on society, especially for those in need of support. The collaboration with LAZISMU is expected not only to support short-term recovery, but also to inspire others to care and contribute. MUFG Indonesia and Danamon believe that social care and contribution are long-term investments in building a prosperous and empowered society, in line with their vision of creating value for all stakeholders.
