Danamon Promotes Safe Holidays Without Worries with #JanganKasihCelah Against Fraud During Transactions
Jakarta, 15 December 2025 - As the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holiday season approaches, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”) once again reminds the public to remain vigilant against various forms of fraud that tend to escalate during this period. As a financial solutions provider and customer-centric organization, Danamon continues to educate customers through its #JanganKasihCelah campaign to exercise caution when transacting during the holiday season, so that they can avoid various types of fraud that may lead to financial losses.
“Danamon understands the public’s need to take a time off and enjoy a short vacation with their families, especially in December and January, which mark the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holiday season. However, it is important to remember that fraudsters do not take holidays. Through the #JanganKasihCelah campaign, Danamon once again aims to raise public awareness of the various types of fraud that may occur during the holiday season, as well as the preventive measures that can be taken,” said Enriko Sutarto, Consumer Lending Business Head of Danamon.
Data from BPS - Statistics Indonesia shows that the number of trips taken by Indonesians in December 2024 reached 101.08 million for domestic trips, an increase of 11.63% compared with December 2023. For international trips, 810.44 thousand Indonesian tourists were recorded traveling abroad, an increase of more than 19.13% compared with the same period in the previous year. The increase in the number of trips also directly drives a rise in financial transactions.
In line with the increase in travel, Bank Indonesia also recorded higher new loan disbursements throughout the fourth quarter of 2024. Credit card transactions in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 75%, higher than the 68.0% growth recorded in the third quarter of 2024. Unsecured loans also grew by 67.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024, exceeding the 64.9% increase recorded in the third quarter of 2024. The increase in public transactions needs to be matched by heightened vigilance against potential or attempted fraud that could disrupt the holiday season.
This type of fraud can exploit various situations and all types of transactions, including Debit / Credit / Charge Card transactions conducted via ATMs and/or EDC machines. Some common fraud methods include dealing with fake travel agents, purchasing accommodation through unofficial channels, and using technology-based scams such as skimming, phishing, or fake QRIS codes. In addition, digital-based fraud is becoming increasingly widespread, including fake social media accounts impersonating travel agents, ATM skimming, phishing via phone or email offering cheap tickets or refund assistance, carding, and hacking of banking accounts through public Wi-Fi networks or USB ports.
To minimize the risk of becoming a victim of fraud, Danamon, through the #JanganKasihCelah campaign, educates the public on several key steps to prevent fraudulent activities. The public is advised to always arrange and purchase their holiday needs through official travel agent accounts and authorized channels. The public is also advised not to share confidential banking information such as OTP codes, CVV/CVC codes, Danamon Debit / Credit / Charge Card PINs, or D-Bank PRO access credentials with anyone, including with individuals claiming to be bank representatives. Customers are also advised not to click on links or download APK files sent from unknown numbers or unverified sources.
While traveling, customers are advised to keep their Danamon Debit / Credit / Charge Cards secure and to use them only for their own transactions. When conducting transactions at an ATM, customers should first ensure that the surrounding area is safe and free from any suspicious individuals or devices. Customers are also advised to avoid using public Wi-Fi networks and USB charging ports, especially when accessing banking applications such as D-Bank PRO.
If customers lose their Danamon Debit / Credit / Charge Cards and/or notice suspicious transactions while on holiday, either domestically or abroad, they should immediately request a temporary block on their Danamon Debit / Credit / Charge Cards via D-Bank PRO and then proceed to request a permanent block by contacting Hello Danamon.
“Danamon remains committed not only to educating customers, but also to protecting customer data through various consumer protection initiatives in accordance with regulatory requirements. If customers experience any issues when making transactions while on vacation, whether domestically or abroad, we remind them to immediately contact Danamon through our official communication channels, including Hello Danamon,” Enriko added.
