Danamon Educates Customers and the Public #JanganKasihCelah to Social Engineering Fraud
Jakarta, 30 September 2025 – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”), as a customer-centric and financial solutions provider, is remains committed in educating and protecting customers as well as the public in response to the rising incidence of cybercrime in Indonesia, particularly those involving social engineering techniques such as phishing. Through its #JanganKasihCelah educational campaign, Danamon seeks to enhance public awareness of various forms of digital fraud and practices that may endanger customers, while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding confidential data.
Technological advancements designed to simplify daily life have made it easier and faster for people to send messages, exchange information, and even conduct financial transactions anytime and anywhere. However, these developments have also been accompanied by a rise in cybercrime, with increasingly diverse types and methods employed to obtain victims’ confidential data. Among the most common forms of cyber-attacks is phishing, which can serve as an entry point for malware into technological devices. According to the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), phishing is a cyber threat in which perpetrators impersonate trusted entities by creating displays or systems that closely resemble legitimate ones in order to deceive the victims.
Andreas Kurniawan, Chief Digital Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, stated, “Through the #JanganKasihCelah campaign, we aim to raise public awareness of the various forms of phishing. Today, cybercriminals exploit channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, e-mail, and fraudulent websites to deceive and take advantage from the victims. One of the most common cases involves fake SMS messages sent using either fabricated numbers or even official numbers from reputable companies, including banks, through the use of fake Base Transceiver Station (BTS) devices. For this reason, it is essential that the public exercise vigilance by carefully reviewing the content of every message received and refraining from accessing links indiscriminately.”
Throughout 2024, the BSSN recorded 26,771,610 activities suspected to be phishing attempts in Indonesia. If left unmonitored, phishing crimes have the potential to inflict significant financial losses on victims. As a customer-centric and financial solutions provider, Danamon actively conducts public education initiatives through the #JanganKasihCelah campaign to enhance awareness of cybercrime, particularly phishing.
To safeguard themselves from various forms of fraud, customers are advised to exercise caution when receiving suspicious messages, e-mails, or other forms of communication. They should remain vigilant against fraudulent SMS sent from unofficial numbers or, in some cases, from official company numbers through the use of fake BTS devices; deceptive e-mails containing false links or digital forms; fraudulent websites designed to imitate legitimate sites; and voice phishing attempts. Customers must also aware that Danamon never requests for customer’s confidential information or instructs customers to access specific links. Furthermore, customers are continually reminded to protect sensitive banking data, including OTP codes, CVV/CVC codes, PIN numbers for Danamon Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/ Charge Cards, as well as access credentials for D-Bank PRO.
“We strongly encourage customers to activate biometric security features on their banking applications to enhance protection. Should customers inadvertently access suspicious links or disclose confidential data to third parties, we recommend that you to immediately change your banking account password and PIN, as well as temporarily block your Transaction Card via D-Bank PRO. Customers may also request a permanent block by contacting Hello Danamon at 1-500-090 for domestic assistance or +62-21-23546100 for assistance abroad,” Andreas added.
