Jakarta, 24 March 2025 – In welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1446 Hijra, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”), through its Sharia Business Unit (“Danamon Syariah”), organized a series of iftar gatherings and communal breaking-of-the-fast events across various regions in Indonesia. These events served as a gesture of appreciation to customers, employees, and business partners, while also aiming to strengthen relationships and foster synergy among all stakeholders.
The series of iftar gatherings and communal breaking-of-the-fast events took place at more than 20 Danamon branches across Indonesia, attracting over 200 participants in total. These events went beyond merely sharing a meal—they also featured various engagement activities involving a diverse group of participants, including associations of hajj and umrah travel agents, Danamon Optimal and Danamon Privilege customers, as well as employee cooperatives.
Merci Santi Adriani, Syariah Funding Business Head of Danamon, stated, “This iftar gathering and communal breaking-of-the-fast event is a meaningful opportunity to foster synergy and build trust among our customers, employees, and business partners as we navigate future business opportunities and challenges together. With the Sharia Business Unit serving as a key pillar of Danamon’s overall business, and the hajj and umrah ecosystem being one of our strategic priorities, this event also serves as a valuable platform to express our appreciation to business partners, while reinforcing our commitment to delivering holistic financial solutions tailored to each customer’s needs.”
One highlight of the series was a special gathering with the association of hajj and umrah travel agents, during which Danamon invited speakers from Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to share insights on hajj management and deliver a sermon session. The event was also attended by customers and employees of PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk (Zurich) and PT Adira Dinamika Multi Finance Tbk (Adira Finance), further demonstrating Danamon’s commitment to fostering a comprehensive sharia financial ecosystem.
In an effort to expand its reach and positive impact, Danamon also invited a wide range of associations and communities to take part in the series of iftar events. Among the participants were the Muhammadiyah Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah Institution (LAZISMU), the Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah, and several associations related to hajj and umrah, including the Association of Umrah and Hajj Organizers (HIMPUH), the Indonesian Umrah and Hajj Organizers Union (SAPUHI), the Republic of Indonesia Hajj and Umrah Tour and Travel Association (KESTHURI), the Association of Muslim Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia (AMPHURI), the Association of Indonesian Hajj, Umrah, and Inbound Organizers (ASPHURINDO), the Association of Muslim Hajj and Umrah Organizers (AMPUH), and the Alliance of All-Indonesia Haramain Entrepreneurs (ASPHIRASI). This collaboration underscores Danamon’s active role in supporting and strengthening the hajj and umrah ecosystem in Indonesia.
Beyond its business focus, Danamon also demonstrates a strong commitment to social responsibility through various initiatives. In a series of Employee Cooperative gathering events held in Jakarta and Surabaya, for instance, Danamon Syariah partnered with the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) to conduct outreach on hajj financial management and promote the Young Hajj Program. The events also included the provision of support for orphans. These efforts reflect the bank’s dedication to upholding sharia financial principles that prioritize not only business growth but also social and humanitarian values.
“These breaking-of-the-fast and gathering is not only a moment to strengthen our bonds, but also a strategic forum for Danamon to listen directly to the aspirations and needs of our customers, employees, and partners. By gaining a deeper understanding of these needs, Danamon hopes to continuously develop products and services that are more relevant and beneficial for the people of Indonesia,” explained Merci.
As a customer-centric organization, Danamon also aims to help customers experience a more blessed Ramadan through its Ramadan Lebih Berkah promotional program. This initiative reflects Danamon’s ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible service to its customers, while also supporting the wider community in observing Ramadan and celebrating Eid al-Fitr in a more meaningful way.
“We understand that during Ramadan and in preparation for Eid al-Fitr, people have diverse needs and their consumption and spending patterns naturally shift compared to other months. That’s why we’re offering a range of attractive promotions through the #RamadanLebihBerkah campaign—to support our customers in becoming smarter and more mindful spenders,” concluded Merci.
Through its various programs, Danamon remains optimistic about strengthening its position in Indonesia’s sharia financial industry via Danamon Syariah. By adopting a holistic approach that integrates business, social, and spiritual dimensions, Danamon Syariah aims to be more than just a provider of financial solutions—it aspires to be a trusted partner in every customer’s financial journey. Danamon is committed to continuous innovation and delivering exceptional service, in line with the evolving needs of the Indonesian people for high-quality financial products and services, including those based on sharia principles.
