Danamon Strengthens Commitment to Environment Preservation Through Various Community, Environmental Initiatives in Bali and Nusa Tenggara Region

Bali, November 23, 2024 – Through the Bali and Nusa Tenggara (Nusra) Regional Operational Office, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) has effectively implemented a series of programs that address both environmental and community issues. This initiative is an integral part of Danamon's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, which aims to create a positive impact on the communities and environments in which the company operates, ensuring sustainable development in its efforts.

The first program focuses on enhancing waste management in Sanur Kauh Village, located in Denpasar, Bali, one of the prominent tourist destinations on the Island of Gods. The village generates approximately three tons of waste daily, with the majority ending up at the overcapacity Final Disposal Site (TPA), which contributes to significant environmental pollution issues.

In partnership with Warmadewa University Bali, Danamon provides significant support to Saur Kauh Village by donating 20 smokeless burn barrels, a three-wheeled waste collection vehicle, and 30 uniforms for the village's cleaning staff. This initiative aligns with Warmadewa University's community empowerment program, which includes educational outreach and hands-on training to enhance waste management practices among local residents.

"We recognize that Sanur Kauh Village is a vital tourism hub that demands sustainable approaches to addressing waste management challenges. Through our collaboration with Warmadewa University, we aim to empower the community with the tools and resources needed to improve waste management, minimize pollution, and foster a healthier environment," said I Gusti Agus Indrawan, Regional Corporate Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, Region Bali Nusra.

The facility handover ceremony took place on November 15, 2024, and was attended by prominent representatives from various organizations. These included I Gusti Agus Indrawan, Regional Corporate Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk for the Bali Nusra Region; Dr. Putu Ngurah Suyatna Yasa, Vice Chancellor II of Warmadewa University; Dr. Partiwi Dwi Astuti, SE., M.Sc., Director of the Directorate of Research & Community Service (DRCS) at Warmadewa University; and I Wayan Ada, S.Sos., Head of Sanur Kauh Village. The event also saw the participation of village officials and community leaders from Sanur Kauh Village.

In addition to its waste management initiatives, Danamon has made significant contributions to education by collaborating with the Japan-Bali Friendship Foundation. This foundation has been instrumental in promoting cross-cultural education in Bali for over 30 years through the management of the Bali Japanese School. Currently, the school is undergoing major renovations due to frequent flooding in its previous location. To support the continuity of the teaching and learning process during this period, Danamon has donated five air conditioners, one LED TV, a document camera, a webcam for online learning, and several trash bins.

"We understand the critical need for a conducive learning environment, particularly in challenging situations like the ongoing building renovations due to flooding. Our support for the Bali Japanese School underscores Danamon's dedication to fostering cross-cultural education that not only enriches students' experiences but also strengthens the bond between local and international communities," stated I Gusti Agus Indrawan.

The donation handover ceremony took place on November 19, 2024, attended by Makiko Iskandar, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Japan-Bali Friendship Foundation, and I Gusti Agus Indrawan, Regional Corporate Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk for the Bali Nusa Tenggara Region.

The third program focuses on greening at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in Singaraja, Bali. The new campus environment located in Jinengdalem still has few trees, creating arid and hot conditions, especially during the day. To support the need for greening, Danamon planted 800 trees, including champak, fish poison tree, coconut, and various other fruit and flowering trees.

"We firmly believe that a green environment contributes positively to both physical and mental well-being. Through this greening program, we aim to support Undiksha in creating a more comfortable and inviting campus atmosphere, while also inspiring the younger generation to prioritize and take action for protecting the environment," said I Gusti Agus Indrawan.

The tree planting event took place on November 23, 2024, and was attended by I Gusti Agus Indrawan, Regional Corporate Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk; Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., Rector of Undiksha; Prof. Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Vice Rector II of Undiksha; as well as deans, lecturers, and a number of students.

Through these programs, Danamon reaffirms its commitment as a trusted financial partner actively contributing to sustainable development. Backed by an extensive local and global network, Danamon is dedicated to fostering growth alongside the community, customers, shareholders, employees, and regulators, working collectively to build a brighter future.
