JAKARTA, 1 November, 2023 – On October 30 2023, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (“Danamon”) through the Danamon Peduli program in collaboration with Sunyi Academy, a foundation which in the culinary industry employment development for people with disabilities, launched the Berbagi Dalam Sunyi program. This program aims to invite Danamon customers to take part in building a brighter future for people with disabilities.
From 30 October to 13 November 2023 at Danamon Pondok Indah Mall 2 and Kelapa Gading branch offices, and from 13 to 30 November 2023 at the Matraman and Prapatan branch offices, customers can buy and enjoy coffee from Sunyi Coffee booth at those branch offices. The coffee is sold at Rp. 1,- (one Rupiah) and customers can make payments using QRIS D-Bank PRO app which automatically donate Rp30,000,- (thirty thousand rupiah) for people with disabilities.
The funds raised will be used to provide skills training to people with disabilities in Greater Jakarta so they can be independent and build a better future for themselves. In these series of training and internship, participants will be equipped with knowledge on coffee and techniques for becoming a barista, as well as on how to manage business finances well.
Upon the conclusion of the training - which will be held from 13 to 17 November 2023 at Kopi Sunyi outlet in Barito, Jakarta - participants will receive a certificate and the opportunity to take part in the one-month internship program at Kopi Sunyi. People with disabilities interested in taking part in this program can sign up for the program on the Kopi Sunyi Instagram account @sunyicoffee.

Data from Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia shows that there are 22.97 million people with disabilities. However, by 2022 only around 7.6 million of them will have jobs, both in the formal and non-formal sectors, showing that people with disabilities have smaller opportunities to get employed than the general public do.
Meanwhile, data from Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy shows that the creative industry is still dominated by culinary business, accounting for 41.4%, with coffee shops included. This is what drives Sunyi Academy through Kopi Sunyi to be committed to helping prepare people with disabilities so they can have a permanent livelihood in the culinary field.
For the record, most of Kopi Sunyi's customers are Millennials and Gen Zers aged 20-30 who are dynamic individuals and social media savvy. These two demographic segments are also known to have high social awareness, with 62% of Millennials and 58% of Gen Zers having participated in fundraising or donation programs, as reported in the Indonesia Millennial and Gen Z Report 2022 published by the IDN Research Institute.
These two same demographic segments are also the target segment of D-Bank PRO app, which offers convenience and practicality in daily financial and non-financial transactions.
