Danamon’s Two Inspirational Women Leaders Honored with Top 100 Most Outstanding Women 2023 Award

Jakarta, May 16, 2023 - During the Top 100 Most Outstanding Women 2023 award ceremony held by Infobank, two inspirational women leaders from PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon), Hedy Maria Helena Lapian, Independent Commissioner, and Rita Mirasari, Compliance Director, received awards for their achievements and contributions to the financial industry in Indonesia, especially in banking.

The Top 100 Most Outstanding Women 2023 is an annual forum and meeting of influential women leaders selected by Infobank Media Group. The award recipients are chosen based on their company's performance and other considerations by Infobank's editorial board. The list consists of outstanding women from various industries, including banking (commercial banks and rural credit banks), insurance, multifinance, securities, SOEs, and financial regulators.

In a Gala Dinner event at Hotel Ambarukmo, Yogyakarta, on Friday, May 12, 2023, Rita Mirasari highlighted the importance of women as leaders and their positive impact on the growth and development of their companies. Rita encouraged women to actively develop their potential and contribute to the progress of their company, regardless of their position.

"According to a research from Women World Banking, women are still underrepresented in leadership positions in Indonesian banks. Currently, women leaders represent 19% of the total of 543 board of director seats across all banks operating in Indonesia. I hope this number will increase in the coming years. Through this award and still in the spirit of Kartini Day, which we celebrated on April 21, I would like to invite all women to actively develop their potential and contribute to the progress of their company wherever and whatever position is entrusted to us," said Rita.

Rita Mirasari first caught the attention of the public during the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders in 2016, where she was appointed as a director of Danamon and an independent director. With extensive experience in law and compliance in the banking industry, Rita played a significant role in maintaining high corporate governance standards. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Indonesia and has been serving as a Director of Danamon since 2016. She was reappointed as Director through the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on March 31, 2023.

Hedy Maria Helena Lapian is a seasoned professional in the banking and insurance industry. She holds an MBA from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. She has been serving as an Independent Commissioner of Danamon since 2020 and was reappointed through the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on March 31, 2023.

Hedy expressed her gratitude for the award and encouraged Indonesian women to pursue their potential, "This award should be a motivation and encouragement for Indonesian women to take part and take their respective positions, including helping to empower other women to have the same opportunities as men in leadership positions. In addition, through this award I would like to invite all women to dare to challenge themselves to achieve their maximum potential. Because I believe women have enormous potential and we may be pleasantly surprised by our abilities that have been hidden or untapped. During my career in banking, Danamon has shown a real commitment in providing equal opportunities for women to succeed and to lead in their respective fields.”
